Very disappointed visit! Went with couple of friends to the Plough Hotel and what a dirty place that is. Empty glasses everywhere. Staff not attentive and not friendly. Will not visit again. Rather get a slap of warm beer and take it home..... hahaha. Management ( if there is one) need to have a very close look at this operation.
Love this place, we frequent the Plough about once a month we love it because the three of us can come here, order a main meal and a drink for under $60. It's not gourmet by any stretch but it's a night out from home and usually a bit of a flutter at the pokies afterwards. The only downside is that the smokers area outside makes sitting in the dining area a bit cold with people in and out all the time, would be great to put a wind break in.
It was a Saturday lunchtime so, as expected, the pub was busy and noisy. I was looking for a cheap lunch and this seemed to fit the bill. The deal was 'Parma & Pot' for $12. I sat down with a pot of Carlton draught. There was a rush on in the kitchen so the meal took 25mins to arrive. When it did the chips were hot and crisp and the Parma was large and tasty. I've paid $18 is other places, without the free drink, so I was surprised by the size of the serve and standard of the food. The bar was rowdy, the language blue, so this is not a place for an intimate chat. However, if you can handle that, then I recommend the Plough as providing one of the best value feeds in the Melbourne area.
Haven't been here for about 15 or more years, when they actually had a bistro! It's advertised as having one, but it's nothing more than a large bar and TAB now. The 'Bistro', consists of about four or five old wooden tables and chairs which have seen better days. It's next to the bar, very loud, with pokies in one side, and several TVs broadcasting racing, boxing and other sports. Couldn't hear myself think. Meals are cheap, around $12. Had Parma and Beer. Chicken fillet was real, definitely wasn't mozzarella cheese on top. Very basic meal, ordered gravy, plain and pepper. It was black liquid but ok. But the pepper one was nothing more than black gravy, with ground pepper in it. You certainly don't need to dress up, most people looked like lost souls, and it's a side of Mill Park I have never seen before. Like being in a time warp! Staff was pleasant, but I'd rather spend my $26 elsewhere. In and out in 45 minutes or less lol! I'm still shaking my head in disbelief! Not sure if you could take children but I certainly would not.
