Barrel Room - Bangor

3.5 stars. Sorry, but this just seemed like a tourist trap. Wish there were more/healthier options on the menu. We went there for lunch and I wish they would've offered a lighter lunch menu. The service was fine. Food was fine. Staff was friendly and helpful. I'm not from Maine so I decided to get some souvenirs. I wanted to pay for our mugs, etc and the guy at the front desk insisted that my server would just add the souvenirs to our tab. I didn't think anything of it until I got our bill. First off, the signage on the mugs was misleading and I did not realize our mugs cost $35 each until I got the bill. When I realized my mistake, I thought oh well, bc they were nice mugs so we kept them even though they were way overpriced for sure. (The sticker on the shelf was in the wrong spot. Also, it was a little misleading to add the souvenirs to the food drink tab bc the average person would tip based off of the whole total (mine was $180! . I generally am a generous tipper but I didn't feel it was right that I had to do my own math to figure out the tip for the service we received. Sorry I just don't consider a retail purchase on merchandise to be tip-worthy, as we had drinkware/glassware and we had to ask for tissue paper in order to transport our merch home to Boston, which they didn't have (but our server improvised and gave us napkins . Our foot total was somewhere btw $90-100 and I still tipped $30. I normally would've tipped more had I actually ordered $180 worth of food and drink.

Hi nice service on the deck. I went out with a someone I've known since grade school. I had their blackened chicken wrap. Very good and french fries and then I had watermelon lemonade

I have eaten here at least three times during the summer of 2023. Always pick a seat outside on the balcony as there is a nice view of the river, and I think the restaurant is always cold! Haddock sandwich, haddock tacos, and fried shrimp were all delicious. Service was good and we were at the last four top on the porch. There was an event that required police assistance off the patio, and the front desk staff was prompt to call 911. Just be careful to avoid it on nights of a waterfront concert. It's packed

First impressions matter, and the reception desk staff of 2 were very busy doing tasks in lieu of acknowledging us and getting us (party of 2, plus a guide dog in training) to our seat. Inside was freezing cold, but the outdoor patio was absolutely perfect. Very friendly server, attentive service. We enjoyed the streetcars salad with added chicken, the pastrami Swiss sandwich with a side of coleslaw and a blood orange ale. Would definitely return when in Bangor again

Steve and I recently tried Sea Dog Brewing for the first time, and we really enjoyed our experience! We sampled the Blue Paw Wild Blueberry, a fruited wheat beer. Initially, we were a bit worried that it might be overly sweet, but while it did have a pleasant sweetness, it wasn’t excessive. In fact, it was quite enjoyable! The flavor profile includes notes of blueberry, sweetness, and fruity undertones. The beer is light-bodied and goes down really smooth. Overall, it was a great choice and a promising introduction to Sea Dog Brewing for us!
