If you like things soaked and dripping in oil, this is your spot. But the fish is terrible, its just frozen bagged and breaded fish you get at the grocery store. Save your self the trouble, walk across the street to the Mueller bakery in the aquarium and get a delicious looking salmon sandwich for 5kor more. We had some of their baked goods that were yummy.
This is just a food stand, in the shape of a viking ship of course, with two outdoor picnic tables. With only about 3-4 eateries in Balestrand, this is the cheapest lunch in town. 80kr/$10.50 Fish N Chips...delicious, and the best deal for Fish N Chips in all of Norway. 55kr/$7.33 Bratwurst...the bratwurst was so long that she cuts it in half. Good, but nothing special and didn't seem to have as much spices as I expect in a bratwurst. Perhaps they're custom designed for blander Norwegian tongues. Great little spot so long as no one is smoking nearby. (Note: At time of this review, the US dollar was up 50% against the Norway kroner...$1 7.5kr vs $1 5kr just a couple years ago)
The staff is very friendly and welcoming! The food is delicious and the service is top-notch. There are a variety of options on the menu for everyone, including vegetarians who will not be disappointed.
Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, cheap prices (for Norway at least! and the vegetables soup was among the best north of the equator!
Great food and serving. Highly recommended. FYI the restaurant is closed between 15:00 and 17:00.
