Coconut Joe's Beach Grill - Bakersfield

I hadn't visited in a while, so I decided to stop by after catching a movie at AMC. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed with the size of the chicken thigh that accompanied my tri-tip and chicken combo. There was barely any meat on the bone. On the bright side, the tri-tip is still as delicious as ever.

The beer batter is a winner! I wish I had taken a better photo, but this will suffice. The shrimp was fantastic, and the fish was good too, though the portion size was a bit small for the price. However, both the texture and flavor were spot on. I enjoyed the coleslaw, and the tartar sauce was nicely balanced with a subtle dill flavor that wasn’t overwhelming. For $22, which included a beer, I consider it a great value! The atmosphere is really cool, tucked away in a modest strip mall, and the service was friendly and accommodating!

This is definitely my favorite spot for lunch! We visit at least every couple of weeks. Their chicken and tri-tip plate is incredible. I've been coming here since I was a child with my dad when we lived in downtown, so it holds a lot of nostalgia for me. It's also a great place for takeout!

Had a great lunch there today! I had a chicken salad and some rice with salsa. Have been coming here for years and the food and service is always excellent and consistent.
