Barrington's Jamaican Kitchen

During a trip to Death Valley, we passed through Bakersfield around dinner time. My daughter, who loves discovering “hole-in-the-wall” restaurants, found this spot on both Yelp and Google. When we arrived, parked, and walked toward the food stand, the owner happened to be walking back as well. He greeted us warmly and asked what we’d like to order. We decided to try the most popular dishes: curry chicken and jerk chicken. Since it was dark, we couldn’t sit at the outdoor tables, so we took our food to the nearby Costco parking lot and ate in the car. Wow—this food was pure comfort, especially the curry chicken. The meat was juicy, and the sides perfectly complemented the meal, making it an even more enjoyable experience. Two servings were plenty for the four of us to share. The owner, who seems to run this place with care and dedication, shared that he’s never been to Death Valley or Las Vegas and has only visited Reno four times. I’m already looking forward to stopping by this gem again the next time I pass through Bakersfield.

Pulled up to the drive-thru window and was welcomed with a sweet and genuine greeting! Ordered the oxtail plate (Served on Fri and Sat only, so I scored in ordering this dish! with a side of jerk chicken. Never had Jamaican food before and found it to be delicious as expected!
