The Spicy Gyoza was advertised as pan-seared, but it was deep-fried; it was good, though! The Beef Donburi was the highlight of the meal—the meat was fantastic! However, the Signature Ramen didn’t live up to expectations. The egg yolk looked dried out, the noodles were overcooked and clumped together, and the broth was quite basic, reminding me of the broth at Kura Revolving Sushi. Additionally, the corn was overcooked, resembling the corn you'd find in a frozen dinner. The restaurant itself is very cute, but the food fell short. I’m not sure why it has such great reviews—maybe it’s due to COVID fatigue or because it's one of the few good ramen spots in that part of Austin.
Resturaunt was nice and clean. Very simple to place your order. You grab your own menu, seat yourself, and go to the counter to place your order when you are ready. We ordered the Signature Ramen and it came in a pretty nice sized bowl, and the flavorwas amazing! The man who was working was very kind, and checked on us. If we lived here in Austin, we would definitely comehere all the time. We will definitely be back when we visit! Ps we walked in to 2 other Ramen restaurants and walked rightout before we found Kenji. Sooo glad we found this gem!
We decided to try a different type of noodles for lunch and chose Kanji Ramen. Just a heads up: customers need to place their orders and pay at the counter before finding a table to sit. We started with Chashu (marinated braised pork belly) and Pork Gyoza (pan-seared dumplings) as appetizers, and for our main dish, we went with the Kanji Ramen, their signature ramen in a creamy pork bone soup seasoned with soy sauce. Each dish had a unique and rich flavor. It was definitely a different experience compared to Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese noodles, but it was enjoyable in its own right.
This is our go-to spot for ramen. It's perfect for families and great for a quick lunch break. The service is friendly, and the food is excellent. There are plenty of options, even for picky kids and adults.
