The cook was trying a new recipe and gave me a red velvet waffle for free and it was delicious! The staff was so friendly! Can't wait to go back!
I ordered the shrimp and grits. I'm not going to lie it was really good. The cleanliness of the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired though. I sat at the counter and got to see everything going on where they make the food. I wish I hadn't. I do not like the things I saw. For this reason I don't think I will return.
Definitely a place that I would not go to again! For starters when you first walk in there was a dirty smell that I couldn't put my finger on, but when I finally sat down I realized it was the tables. You know how some restaurants use the same old rags to wipe down tables, that's what it smelled like. Also it felt somewhat hot and sticky in there. They really need better ventilation or A/c something to compensate for that issue. The service was pretty quick but the food we received was mediocre. Like something I could make at home nothing special. The salmon croquettes, eggs, and French toast my husband got was so small. My bowl had no flavor. I was overall just turned off from eating in that environment due to the smell and heat so we left. When we're leaving we saw a guy on the corner sidewalk cleaning kitchen equipment literally on the sidewalk that definitely has to be some type of health code violation.
This restaurant is located in the downtown area, which looks like it holds a lot of rich history. We had reservations for 11:00 am but didn't get seated until past 11:30 am. Also the food took a while to come and when it finally came the order was not correct. No problem, considering that it was a busy Sunday. The food is pretty good. It was seasoned really well. Advice: The earlier you come the better. Everyone is super nice there. Just didn't like the long wait time with reservation and mishap with order.
[live review] got there at 2 pm. there was a 15 minute wait. that 's cool. i like that they had a system to text you when they are ready. a lot of smaller establishments don 't. when we finally got seated. man it was sooooo hot inside. they have four ceiling fans. feels like no central air. my spouse was literally fanning us with a menu the whole time. they have maybe 7/8 booths. it 's like a very small Waffle House. they have a bar-type situation with about ten seats. but only four can be utilized. they should really find other storage for the items on the bar to free up more seats. they have a system for you to scan a QR code and order your food. i prefer to order off the menu with a server the old fashion way. personally the menu was lacking. i did like the prices though. (spouse just came back from taking our child to the restroom. You clearly need renovations. The bathroom is clean but it 's definitely giving Brunch Storageroom. Not Brunch House. Now that I look around, there is s everywhere. The wait area is cluttered with cups, cleaning supplies and lids. And calling it a waiting area was generous. We originally ordered shrimp and grits, stuffed French toast and a bacon egg cheese biscuit. It took our server twenty minutes to come tell us the kitchen was out of white bread and biscuits. So we nixed everything except a waffle and eggs for our son. Food: The waffle and eggs. My spouse cooks eggs at least three times a week. They definitely brought us one egg. The Belgium waffle was not crispy but it was tasty. Just not what I expect when you say Belgium waffles. The eggs were alright . Last thing, styrofoam cups and plastic wear. It 's giving lazy af. [server just came to the table and asked did we want biscuits. she meant they were out of biscuits momentarily. some were in the oven. it 's 307p now. i declined. i wish i could timestamp everything to give better understanding. so another server, Kim, just walked up to our table. offered us BEC biscuits on the house. we didn 't say anything to anyone. she just came over. we declined but really appreciated her. she was so kind the entire time we were there. and she really didn 't have to do that. we honestly said we prolly wouldn 't ever come back. but about ten minutes before walking out she saved day. thank you Kim. we are going to visit again and request her.
