Great food, especially the pizza, minimal wait on food, came out very quickly for us. We had great waiters and lovely cocktails. Great bartender, made any drink we requested
Despite having difficulty with post-holiday deliveries, our funny and charming wait person found us a couple of meals to satisfy us. Partner had the delicious and tender chicken salad, I was craving steak. It was cooked to perfection, each bite melting in my mouth, accompanied by a sensible number of thick cut duck fat potato fries and a rather oniony parsley salad. It was pretty darn good. Shame about the family with three young children who were allowed to run riot in their corner.
Came here for a business meeting as it was central but still had parking options. It was perfect. Quiet but ambient, food was delicious (simple cheeseburger and lamb ribs), staff were available but not in your face as often the case when it's quiet. Would definitely recommend for future weekday business meetings, and probably after work drinks too
Being based in Kingsland has many perks — close proximity to the CBD, better parking and being among Auckland 's finest hipsters, where they are born from coffee beans. New North Road eateries have also made themselves know in both the Metro Best Cafés and Metro Cheap Eats. Thing is, having done Husk lunches for three years, we still have not managed to properly document every one. It 's easy to be swept along by the hype of the new cafes, but now we 're planning to review each and every one, even the good favourites we take for granted. Neighbourhood Brew Bar is one of five Mac 's bars in Auckland (nine in New Zealand and counting). Known for their historic, eclectic décor (upside-down lamps hanging from the ceiling amongst a myriad of vintage books and stuffed pheasants), we also love the Saul-Bass-esque typography featured in their menus, beer labels and wall art — a contemporary touch nonetheless. Seating ranged from the sun-drenched patio with bright cushions and a concrete fireplace to an intimate library room with soft couches and ottomans. The food, as you 'd expect, is a hearty selection of wood-fired pizzas, pastas, burgers and roasts. Some will complain that it 's 'man-food '; others classify it as 'real food ' or a contemporary take on ‘pub food '. You be the judge.<br/ <br/ Check out our individual comments here: husk.co.nz/lunches/neighbourhood-brewbar-june-2015
