This Steak House sits right at the top of the price range.Steak prices at well over the $100.00+ point. They were extremely busy, and the service was rather slow, to the point that: what 's happening !!.Extras,Small side dishes at $12.00 were expensive, especially for a small side of chips.I ordered a blue Wagyu Scotch fillet steak at $95.00, which was blue, but only just blue in the middle, the rest ranged from medium/well, because the steak was unevenly cut across, being thin on one side tapering to thick on the other side.I queryed the waiter about the cooking of this at the time, but was assured it was not a problem.Another issue with this, it was too heavily salted, which was a shock on the first mouthful.Quite frankly we have had better cooked steak at the Angus Steak House!Wines,Good choice of wines on the wine list, prices around $20+ a glass.Would I go back, probably not.
I’m torn. We loved this place when we came here last year (we had their signature queen cut) but this time we ordered the rump cap. They showed us the raw cut before cooking it and when it came out there was no fat cap at all on it. I’m not sure if it’s normal to trim all the fat off a rump cap at a restaurant, but having a little bit of the fat is the best part of rump cap!I think it was served sliced because we were sharing but it needed to be rested for longer and was actually over cooked (I suspect due to lack of resting and also slicing it). It was really tough to chew and not enjoyable at all. We also ordered candied kumara (average mashed kumara) and beetroots (delicious). Not sure I’d want to come back again but if I did, maybe I’d stick to their signature cuts.
We enjoy the meat served. the restaurant can be quietly occupied and the atmosphere is ideal for the group of 4 6. not so much for romantic dinner.
From the moment we arrived at 7.40 for a 7.30 booking and had to wait at the bottom of the stairs to be welcomed and then to say our table was ready to wait in the bar, we knew it went downhill. after some confusion about pre-ordering or not on Sunday roasting, we had finally taken our order at 8.30 even 20 minutes someone took our beverage order, annoying when they stand with workers to talk to each other. the meal was nice enough that the staff was not attentive and we were clearly annoying. the table was not cleaned after the net and there was a Brussel spruder left on the table only to be hidden when dessert arrived and she plonked the...more
