Ebisu - Auckland

The restaurant month menu offered a fantastic opportunity to sample the food here. The vegetarian sushi was surprisingly flavorful, even for someone who typically prefers meat. The tataki was a bit chewier than I expected, but it still provided a lovely blend of truffle, savory flavors, and fresh flour. The dumplings were decent, but the filling-to-shell ratio was slightly off. The tofu was quite tasty, though it could have used more textural contrast. The chicken, unfortunately, was overpowered by the truffle oil, which seemed like an unnecessary attempt to elevate the dish. The eggplant was intriguing, especially for those who enjoy sweeter flavors. The Bombe Alaska was outstanding—10/10 would recommend! The drinks were also excellent. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience.

The staff were wonderful. We visited for the express lunch, which was an excellent value at $50 per person and quite filling. The sashimi was fresh, the meat was cooked to perfection, and the yuzu sorbet was incredibly refreshing. We were seated by a window that provided beautiful natural light and a nice view.

The ambiance was lovely, but it was quite crowded since we visited on a busy weekend night. The food was delightful—everything we had was delicious and full of flavor. However, I found the portions to be lacking given the prices, and my partner felt the same way. While I may consider returning for a romantic dinner in the future, it wouldn't be my first choice.

Good modern Japanese cuisine set in a cool space by the viaduct. Will definitely comeback next time! Love their chicken teriyaki.

This is one of those restaurants I will come to time and time again a solid 5 star in my books. Beautiful location and ambiance perfect for a date night, work dinner or a family event. Sometimes I even come here solo just for the sushi and sake and to watch a movie on my phone.<br/ <br/ If you haven’t been here before, the staff are patient, friendly and knowledgeable about the food and go out of their way to ensure you have a great evening. The alcohol selection is great and the cocktails are divine.<br/ <br/ The food... consistently delicious! A simple staple of mine is the cabbage salad it’s light and crispy, flavoursome and refreshing. A perfect accompaniment to any meal. The nigiri and sashimi selections here are exceptional in taste, variety and presentation. The main meat dishes are all pretty good as well and if you’re like me and have eyes bigger than your stomach, you’re more than welcome to a takeaway container. Last time I took home leftover pork belly and used it in ramen the next day!
