Carmen Jones - Auckland

Often people on luck cow say, "I would give this restaurant five stars if I could", about a restaurant with vegan options that also has meat. I had a nice time in this restaurant, but I think four stars are right. The atmosphere is fun, the service was great, the separate veggie menu has many options, but my partner and I both agreed that our food could use a bit more taste. Everything was good and high quality, but nothing turned out to be exceptionally creative or interesting. However, I have a preference for big flavors, so maybe this is just a question of my own taste. I'd go back.

Nice place to go on krd. Lots of vegan options and the food was good. The waitress was a bit dopey, didn't know how much the discount was at happy hour, but was friendly enough. We would go again.

I really enjoyed dinner here. They have a separate vegan menu with really nice mezze kind of dishes. We tried the olives, babaganoush, Sicilian bread, pizza latina (flat bread with pumpkin, avo, caramelised onions and pepitas and sharing platter (grilled veg, etc. . Everything was nice and the staff was very friendly.

Our vegan family of three has had a lot of vegan dinners at Carmen Jones on Sunday nights, when a lot of other places that have vegan meals are closed. The last time we ate here was 26 July. There have been some changes in the menu, but the separate vegan menu always has plenty delicious options. The. Spanish/Latino atmosphere is very inviting and although they had quite some changes in staff recently the food and service remains excellent. One minor Con: they don’t have a vegan dessert!
