This restaurant is a must when I visit the northern coast of Oregon. Wherever you are in the North Oregon Coast, you should be sure to stop from Himani Indian cuisine. Your stomach will thank you. Your lips will smash your brain because you won't come sooner.
We do not miss a meal at Himani when we travel through Astoria. We have our favorites, including their aubergines and okra court. Gobi 65 is something my children are looking forward to a recommendation from a friend. A must try!
Food was wonderful, wonderful service and beautifully served. Regarding previous comments on the service: Please note the “Help Searched” sign in the window. Understaffing is a big problem in the entire restaurant industry. This may also apply to order on the front and payment before/after meal. Also given the dinner prices, the food is very filled and, while not great, American style served for some dishes, it is quite favorable for the amount of ingredients and quality of spices and the overall taste of food. As four adults we were full after we had made three dishes and sides a family-run meal that cost $60. A solid 5/5 do not sleep on this lunch buffet or fun dinner experience.
I stopped a quick lunch here. The Indian food we received was shameful! Honestly, the best Indian I ever got from a restaurant. The Naan was also spectacular! Apart from homemade it was also the best I had. It was buttery, warm and best not burned! Only four stars because the service was uneasy. We were asked to pay for our food before we were waited or even had a chance to eat. I didn't feel comfortable with it because I didn't know what to type. The waitress had left us waiting for a table for about 10 minutes, although the restaurant was almost completely empty. After we had set ourselves, we never received refills and did not see our waitress again. I ordered a mango Lassi and I didn't get him. I couldn't ask where it was because our waitress MIA was. I should have said less honestly. But overall great food is simply terrible service.
Really good food! I haven’t had a dish here I didn’t thoroughly enjoy. Staff is polite. Having to order at the counter is kind of lame, but probably for the best because in my experience things progress here real slow. If you are eating in, my advice is to bring a book or a board game. If you are ordering to go, I suggest adding an extra 10-15 minutes to whatever pick-up time they give. If you are trying to catch a quick bite before a movie, this place is worth saving for another time. Medium spicy is pretty tame.
