Doragon Ramen - Ashland

We ordered out here for the first time tonight and we were really impressed. Food is fresh and delicious. I really liked the soup dumplings and pork dumplings. Kids loved the chicken ramen with marinated egg. The wings were also amazing (we got the orange hoisin flavor). Definitely will be back. Kid-friendliness: Kids are huge ramen fans, but easy to find things kids will like here, IMO. They have a kids ramen that you can customize. We got the regular chicken ramen with chicken, veggies, and marinated egg and the kids liked that. The chicken karaage was also very tender and something that more picky kids would probably enjoy as well. It's just a solid restaurant. The people on the floor are great, but they often get overrun because the place doesn't hire enough people or something, so they're stretched pretty thin. As for the food, I feel like it's gotten worse over the years for some reason, and I can't figure out why. Going there a few years ago, I'd definitely call it the best ramen place over all the others I've tried, but the past few orders have really just been not great. The most recent order, though, I took a chance ordering the super spicy one and it was a lot better than others in the past. I'll definitely have to keep doing some more experimenting with other things on the menu, though, so I'll try and update this if I can. Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options are pretty good, but I still feel a bit restricted with the ramen specifically, since there's only a couple that don't have meat broth, two of which are I think the same basically. Now onto the ramen: the Doragon Hellfire Ramen is fiery hot but delicious—definitely a solid pick for spice lovers. Meanwhile, the Tonkotsu Ramen delivers a mild and comforting broth that I truly enjoyed. As for protein options, the pork belly chashu is incredibly rich and tender, practically melting in your mouth. However, I personally found it to be a tad too fatty, though that's typical for chashu, and not necessarily a drawback. The shrimp tempura features a crispy, crunchy batter, but I found the shrimp a bit too thin to make an impact. As an avid ramen enthusiast, I must admit that Doragon Ramen doesn't quite meet my highest standards.
