Racecourse Road in Ascot has numerous cafes, coffee shops, and restaurants, so I had plenty of options to choose from. I ordered two flat whites and also decided to try the GF almond biscuits that were available. To my surprise, the total bill was higher than expected due to the high price of the (quite small) biscuits at four dollars each. Despite this, I hoped they would be delicious. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The biscuits were dry, tasteless, and lacked almond flavor, with only a few almond flakes on top. The coffee was bitter, and even though we were the only customers in the shop, the service was slow and careless. Overall, we felt unwelcome and quickly left without finishing our drinks. I would recommend sticking to the main road and avoiding this cafe altogether.
La Loopa in Brisbane serves one of the best and my favorite breakfast. I have only tried one dish from them, but I have been there numerous times. I highly recommend the tomato, avocado, coriander, chili, and curry salt on toast for starting your day. The owners, who I assume are also the ones in the kitchen, have a clear ambition to serve fresh, tasty, nutritious, and original food. Even though I am not a local, I believe that La Loopa is the standout among the great venues along Racecourse Road.
Located on Racecourse Road in Brisbane, La Loopa is a small cafe that has become one of my favorite dining spots for delicious meals. The owner, Nicole, is a seasoned chef whose expertise shines through in her food. While their breakfast options are fantastic, the real highlight is the lunch and take-home dinner meals. Each dish is unique and full of flavor, with my personal favorite being the Turkish Borek with yogurt. Despite being a bit tricky to locate and having limited parking, the exceptional quality of their food makes it all worth it. La Loopa also offers take-home meals and catering services, both of which I have experienced and can attest to the same level of excellence found in their cafe offerings.
I decided to try this cafe as it is an independent business and a little out of the way and I like to support small organisations rather than the big franchises. Racecourse Road in Ascot has several cafes, coffee shops and restaurants so it wasn't as if I didn't have plenty of choice. I ordered two flat whites and saw that there were GF almond biscuits on offer so ordered two of these. I was surprised to find that my total bill was over $16.00 as the (quite small) biscuits were four dollars each, but went with it anyway, thinking that they would probably be delicious. I was wrong. Not only were these biscuits dry, tasteless little bits of nothing, the only almonds were the three flakes laid across the top. The coffee was bitter and despite being the only people in the shop the service was slow and and sloppy. We felt very unwelcome and left quickly, not even finishing our coffee. Stick to the main road and leave this place out of the loop.
Genuinely one of the best and certainly favourite breakfast in Brisbane. Too be perfectly honest, I've only ever had the one dish from La Loopa, yet I have been there at least a dozen times. Please, try the tomato, avacado, corriander, chilli and curry salt on toast. Without question the best way to tart the day. The owners (I assume) are also in the kitchen and it's obvious that their main abition is to serve fresh, tasty, nutritious (and original) food. I'm no longer "a local" and whilst there are a number of great venues along Racecourse Road, this is most certainly the stand-out.
