Sushi Garden Aptos

I was initially skeptical due to its location in a strip mall and chain restaurant status, as I typically prefer Japanese sushi spots. However, I was pleasantly surprised by our dining experience here. The restaurant had a great atmosphere, with high ceilings, big TVs playing sports, comfortable seating, and a nice view of the sushi kitchen. The bathrooms were clean, and the sushi and sashimi were excellent. The staff was friendly, and they even offer $20 off on your birthday, which was very generous. They serve ice-cold beer in frozen glasses and a delicious salad with creamy dressing. The tofu pieces could be bigger and softer, but the age dashi tofu with its crispy coating and umami sauce was one of my favorites. Their teriyaki sauce was also flavorful. I did find the dishes for their chirashi don to be heavy and lacking in sushi rice, but overall, it was still excellent. This is a great sushi spot in a convenient location in Aptos. We will definitely be returning.

The salmon was bland, dry, and had a strange aroma. The other seafood options were also not very good, but the crab was decent in comparison. Ended up giving away 3/4 of the rolls to a friend and only had a few chips for dinner. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant.

My family and I visited this city and decided to try this restaurant because it was so close to our hotel and had good reviews. We arrived at 4:59, just before the 5 o'clock opening time. As we entered, the two sushi chefs gave us a cold look and we realized that we had arrived a bit early. After waiting for 1 minute, we approached a waitress, but there was no greeting from the sushi chefs. We felt a negative atmosphere and decided not to dine there, as it seemed like the staff were unhappy with their work. We have never experienced such poor service at a Japanese restaurant before. This restaurant really needs to ensure that their employees provide at least decent service!

Always good! I don't actually eat raw fish, but love the sweet, the little salat and the mistsuppe.

Rebecca was our server and even though she was crazy busy and they were down a host, she couldn’t have been any nicer and more accommodating. Rolls were amazing and came out fast. Such an awesome experience and super happy we decided to eat here
