Apollo Bay Seafood Cafe

We had decided on a road trip from Adelaide to Melbourne unplanned with no booking reservations for food or accommodation neither did we research any of our stops so hopefully this will give us an unbiased view of our reviews.A little disappointed with the whole town, I know it's winter but struggle to see how they would cope in the height of the season.The service on entering wasn't exactly welcoming but we got a table. You order off a take away menu and nothing explained. The food was fresh and very good. Please don't get your hopes up this is not a restaurant but a takeaway fish and chip shop with seats.Average priced for similar meals.

We were excited to go based on the great reviews but were extremely disappointed. We ordered the fish and chips ($9.50) and the lot burger ($9.50). The lot burger didn't come with fries, and the fish and chips didn't come with ketchup or tartar sauce. Both cost extra. The food was very ordinary (I come from land-locked Central Canada, so I am familiar with very ordinary - I thought a fishing town on the coast would be better), but the worst was the terrible service. Everyone was grumpy and acted like ordering food was an unforgivable crime. Don't bother with this awful rude overpriced cafeteria.

Visited Apollo Bay and wanted a quick meal for the family. You can eat in but really busy, which was a good sign, and so decided on take away. Fish really tasty and chips not greasy. Good value at Aud 9.5 for fish and chips. Recommended

Small place on the Ocean road, run by Greek people. Take away and table service after ordering at the counter. Fresh fish, concise menu and rather low pieces (15/20 dollars per person) All good but nothing special and given the reputation of a place run by fishermen, one would certainly expect more. Sautéed mussels at 20 dollars good but with too much tomato and low dose. Fried squid in batter: not oily but the batter comes off at the first bite leaving the fish naked. In conclusion, valid for a snack but disappointing for a dinner. Keep in mind that it closes at 8pm

We arrived late into Apollo Bay in the off season. We came here because of the Trip Advisor review which was pretty spot on. The food was fresh, but the atmosphere was not great. The service was friendly, but it took a bit of a while for the food to arrive. I got too many fried choices of fish. I should have gone with the grilled option.
