South Pole Inn - Annascaul

We spent some great times in that pub. People inside are so welcoming, super food, super music, super ambiance. Family friendly. We'll come back soon : Oh lala Merci beaucoup!

Just stopped in for a minute while on a tour. Pub was very interesting

Lovely walk just behind the South Pole Inn, food okay, kids like the walk and of course throwing stones in the river.

The connection with the Exploration of the South Pole makes this a unique pub.

Dogs Not Welcome! We were staying in the village for a couple of nights and the owner of our accommodation recommended this place. They don't allow dogs in the pub, only in a shelter outside, which is no use if it's cold/windy etc. (which it was) I emailed them to say that it's ironic, given the importance of dogs to the Shackleton South Pole expedition (the pub is dedicated to local explorer Tom Crean, who was on that expedition), that they don't allow dogs in the pub! They didn't reply. We did go in there the next day for a pint (left the pup in the property) and the service wasn't terribly friendly. Beer was good, and the food looked nice.
