Buon cibo, bellissima vista, discreto servizio, prezzi nella media. Noi siamo stati bene ed è probabile che ci torneremo.
Absolutely great location but this placerade was a joke. I felt sorry for the young staff. Though friendly they had no idea what they were doing. I ordered red wine and got white. The waitress missed my food order so I had to order it again. When the dish, pasta al ragu, finally arrived it tasted like dogfood. And the pasta was overcooked. Didn’t know it was possible in Italy. There’s no need to visit this establishment except for maybe a drink.
Great location for morning coffee or evening aperitivo. Fabulous views, nice staff. Drinks prices around the same as other places in Ancona
The location of this restaurant is special and evokes numerous memories for many Anconetani... We chose to avoid the many, many stairs and we took one of the few tables right in the charming public garden. L 'Ascensore is worth it for the splendid location alone; the restaurant overlooks the Passetto beach and the garden is filled with pine trees. The view is beautiful, but it would be nice if so much beauty corresponded to more consistant goodness in the food. Excellent shrimp and prawn cocktail. Quite good spaghetti alle vongole, but Taglionini ai frutti di mare was starchy and the fish was clearly frozen. At 10 meters from the sea?? Returning the next day for hamburgers (some rather bizarre inventions by the chef! we found the Angus burgers tasteless, and their homemade buns nicely done, but way too heavy for the hamburgers, and the lettuce and tomato was overheated and wilted. The poor young waiters who work the garden tables already look frazzled and suffering from heatstroke, and it 's only June! They are badly organized, buzzing to and fro, forgetting to bring menus, disappearing without taking orders, reappearing after 15 minutes with a bottle of water but forgetting the glasses, and so forth.... ...and the worst part is that the poor kids are forced to decend 30 steps to fetch each dish, then back up those 30 steps to bring the dish to the client. A complete waste of energy, not to mention time. Theirs and ours. Dear Ristorante L’Ascensore: How about a nice dumbwaiter? A montavivande? It is not appetizing to feel that one is being served by SLAVES, although they were all charming and uncomplaining.
