The Seanad was good but tasted farmed and not caught in the wild. Altogether a very good experience in Anacapri
Enzo was the manager … great effort from him to help us vegetarian guests …Elisa the girl who made our drinks made it really very well … loved the afternoon and well recommended if u want to have a value for money good meal
This restaurant and our incredible experience ended up being the highlight of our trip to Capri. We had asked a local man where he would eat and he suggested Columbus restaurant so we went for lunch. While we were eating lunch we saw an older gentleman come in a few times with freshly picked herbs, then a bag of zucchini and we learned that he was the father in law of the owner. We found out that they also served dinner so we booked to come back that night. Our meal was just incredible and so fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. For dessert we had their own spin on tiramisu made with local berries and a custard and it was other worldly. We also got to enjoy their own olive oil which was literally like liquid gold. What really stood out though was the beautiful family and staff at the restaurant. The owners, Sabina and Vincenzo, and their daughter Elisa and their staff Mechele, Salvatore and chef Roberto will make you feel like their family. They were the most beautiful, kind, people and they are really making a difference in this world. They are part of a group that have recovered abandoned Olive oil farms and they have restored the traditional non chemical olive oil cultivation practices . We loved this place so much we came back for our second night for another spectacular meal and experience. We left with full tummies but even more full hearts having met such wonderful people. I can say enough good things about our experience. This was the best food we had in Italy so far and we heard other patrons say the same thing. Don’t miss this treasure if you are in Anacapri.
A hidden gem off the main square in Anacapri. Away from the busy tourists in a indoor garden setting. The owner was extremely kind and clearly passionate about the food he was serving here. Of course the food was fresh and delicious. As a bonus he introduced us to Olive oil from Capri an industry that has been resurrected in recent years. Great experience overall.
We found this gem on a recent stay in Anacapri. We loved it so much we kept going back for more. We had a couple of light lunches in the snack bar that were great the pizza bread paninis and the spaghetti Pomodoro was particularly popular. For Breakfast we had coffee and croissants/cornetto that was lovely, the cornetto was filled with light custardy cream or and apricot jam and the Cappuccinos were awesome, not just in taste but the elaborate designs/writing in chocolate on the top. But the best bit was the the dinner on the upper floor. The beautifully designed rustic dining area with a retractable roof, open sides and hanging plants and flowers all round the edges the setting was amazing sat there looking out over the the Piazza Vittoria. The food was amazing the owner/waiter is not only friendly and knowledgeable about his food but clearly passionate and proud of what he offers. He explained the origins and history of some of the dishes. It appears that they grow a lot of their own produce even making some of the olive oil. We had a cheese board the was fantastic, this rare cheese such as the Provolone Del Monaco that was a particular treat, the Ravioli Caprese was the best I have had, the steak was melt in the mouth beautiful and the side dishes were something I have not had before but will defiantly have again, Fritte Misto which was a mix of vegetables, polpete, arancini and crochets fried in a light tempura type batter. We also had at the waiter recommendation of pumpkin flowers fried in a batter. This was awesome, but is a delicacy that is only available at certain times of the year so we were luck to be in the right pace at the right time. To finish off the meal we had first class Tiramisu and delicious Torta Capresi followed by an olive based digestive that was abit like limoncello but less sweet and lemony. I have not seen this before so I think it might be special to them as they also have barman who made some great drinks and cocktails including and color changing flower mocktail. All in all We loved this place and the staff, we had various meals and they were all great. The location makes it seam like a tourist restaurant but al lot of locals seam to eat there as well. If you are in Anacapri and you do not eat at Bar Columbus (Particualy for dinner) you will miss out.
