Harry's Tinaja - Alpine

The outdoor beer bar closed down a few years ago after Harry, the owner, passed away.

Harry passed away on September 2nd, 2022. Guests can now feel comfortable visiting this restaurant without encountering his unpleasant demeanor.

During my trip to West Texas, I spent a half-day in Alpine and decided to have dinner at Harry's Tinaja. After our meal, we stopped by the bar for a drink and it turned out to be a fantastic decision. Harry's is a laid-back bar that embodies everything you would expect from a local watering hole. The owner, who is of European descent, established the bar many years ago, resulting in a menu that showcases European beer options, including a great selection of German beers, alongside local brews. The owner went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time, introducing us to some regulars at the bar once he learned we were visitors. This level of hospitality is hard to come by. Harry's boasts a cozy interior filled with memorabilia on the walls, as well as a patio for outdoor seating. If you find yourself in Alpine, be sure to stop by Harry's for a drink while exploring the town.

Harry's Tinaja is a hidden gem in Alpine! The walls are covered in dollar bills (make sure to add your own!) and they have a fantastic outdoor patio. The customers were extremely friendly and made me feel right at home. If you're fortunate, you may even meet Harry himself, who is charming and hospitable. Just keep in mind that food is only available on food truck days, otherwise it's drinks only. I highly suggest checking out this spot if you're in Alpine!
