We ate the original reata, they can be familiar with the in dfw. Anyway, this place was nice and cozy, great atmosphere and amazing service. eating was phenomenal. we had the calamari. it was great. also large pieces as they were on steroids. I ate the zitrushühnchen rosmarin dish. other in our party had the carne asada with enchiladas and the acid cream enchiladas topped. all were well rated. in any case you have to eat a place.
A little pricey for me but it's a wonderful place to treat myself to a girl's day!!!
I arrived about 630 on a Tuesday. I was alone and asked if I could eat at the bar. The dining room I could see was about half full. The host told me it would be about an hour and took my number. No worries, it was a pretty day so I walked around downtown. After an hour I went back to check since I never received a call or text. The dining room was now at capacity (why couldn’t I have had an open table earlier I was seated at a table in the bar. I asked the bartender if I could just sit at the bar as there were several seats open. She said I could. The service was fine. The food was miserable. I ordered the steak with asparagus and mash. At $50 I had high expectations even here in the remote high desert. The meal was fairly awful. Authentically straight off a Sysco food service truck but exceptionally bland. Everything had a complete lack of seasoning except for the jalapeño butter which arrived on the steak still frozen. I’m not exaggerating. There was no seasoning on anything. On top of that the asparagus was raw. I like mine crispy, I’m not being overly critical. This was raw. The ribeye was also barely that. An exceptionally cheap cut of beef. There is clearly zero connection to the Fort Worth venue of the same name and if there is it’s distant…extremely distant. There are better meals to be had in Alpine.
The reata is texas famous for a good reason. the atmosphere, service and eating are fantastic. we started with the speck that was beaten on grotten. my wife had that huh with the honey sniff sauce. I had the 14 ounces of nativity. everything was extraordinary! this is the place to dinate to get a real feeling for the ranting earthquake of the alps. I don't think you can go wrong here.
