Donato's - Alpine

I've been to quite a few Italian restaurants, and theirs is the best Lasagna I've ever had in San Diego.

We were greeted so nicely, to start off. Then our server, a really nice women, really fun. Right away everything was so fun. Then once we ordered our food, it came really quick. I ordered the Rigatoni Fra Diavalo. AMAZING!! Great first visit. We will be returning. The ambiance was Old school traditional Italian. Loved it. Wine prices were fair.

Kid-friendliness: Went in for dinner with family almost 45 mins before close and they wouldn't seat us They we're not incredibly busy Why say your open until a certain time and turn away customers long before that time We ended up going to Bongiovanni's on Old Hwy 80 Food was Great and Service was Exceptional! First time trying Donato’s, after a long day, and it was a great experience. Seated quickly, food was fresh, and everything tasted great! We had the fried ravioli, house salad, rigatoni Donato’s, and the chicken parmigiana. Would come back to eat here if I’m ever in Alpine. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30

We have been eating at Donato's for a long time and I've always felt that their pizza is just about the best in San Diego county. Until recently. The last two pizzas we have purchased were decidedly substandard. I'm not sure what has happened, to degrade the quality of the food. Perhaps a different chef? Perhaps substituting ingredients due to out of control inflation? Don't know what it is but we are so disappointed.
