Chengdu Taste - Alhambra

I believe every doctor faces one medical issue that becomes the greatest frustration in their career. While all medical problems are challenging in their own way, there is usually one that proves to be more troublesome than the rest. For me, that issue is hypertension, and if I could eliminate just one medical condition, it would be this one. Managing hypertension in an outpatient setting is an absolute nightmare.

On the other hand, the Sautéed String Beans were absolutely fantastic. They were deliciously prepared and by far the most flavorful thing I’ve had all week, and I’ve enjoyed a lot of Korean and Chinese cuisine recently. These string beans were also incredibly spicy—in a good way—so be sure to have some water on hand!

I ordered the #107 Double Cooked Pork Fried Rice, spicy, which cost $12.99. It was decent, but I probably won’t order it again. The #38 Pork Intestine and Chicken in an Earthen Pot, also spicy, was $19.99, but it was mostly potatoes. Lastly, I tried the #82 Spicy String Beans for $10.99. In total, my meal came to around $48.

This restaurant is fantastic! The Toothpick Lamb was a delightful surprise and definitely a highlight of the meal. It was incredibly flavorful, well-seasoned, and a real treat, especially since I don’t often order lamb. The Boiled Beef in Hot Sauce was the main reason for our visit, and it did not disappoint. Although we were anticipating it to be spicier, it was still delicious enough to satisfy our taste buds. We also tried the Sautéed String Beans, which I highly recommend; they were spicy and packed with great flavors. Additionally, I ordered the Twice Cooked Pork Fried Rice, which was outstanding.

I was really impressed: all of their shrimp dim sum was absolutely fantastic! The turnip cake was some of the best I've ever had. The service was great as well. The only downside, apart from the location, is that the prices are a bit steep. But honestly, the delicious food makes it all worth it!
