The Lounge At Masselow's

My wife and I sat at a table hoping to enjoy a drink and dinner. The lounge was empty, and there were only two people at the bar, with two waiters just wandering around. No one came to our table. The bartender did bring us menus, but after sitting there for another 20 to 30 minutes without any service, we finally decided to get up and leave.

Both my wife and I ordered filet mignon, which were excellent and cooked to perfection, but given the price of $62 each, plus an additional $4 for a topping for my wife and a $20 upcharge for Oscar style on mine, I expected nothing less. The asparagus we had as a side was overcooked. Masslows automatically adds a 20% service charge to all checks, yet the bill also suggested additional tipping at rates of 20%, 22%, or 25%. Our server was presenting the bill before the dessert menu even reached us. I suspect many guests are unaware that the gratuity is already included and may end up tipping again. Overall, for a dinner that totaled over $260, with subpar service and obligatory gratuity, I cannot recommend this restaurant, despite the quality of the steaks.

The service was outstanding. However, the ambiance was different from what we anticipated; it was loud, with an open layout that resembled a cafeteria. The Maple Old Fashioned cocktail was fantastic! Our steaks were cooked properly, but they were quite overpriced. I would suggest trying Churchill's or Spencer's for better quality and value.

Food was way over priced and salty. Staff was amazing. I hope for the way out food prices, they get paid well. I will not go back or tell people it was good. I'm not sure what happened but I use to love the food.

Have been having breakfast on Christmas morning for many years. Was disappointed they didn't offer their special menu for Christmas. Don't get me wrong food off regular menu was tasty, just always enjoyed their special different menus on Christmas.
