It's a big enough meal to keep you going through the day. They would have got 5 stars except I had to reorder a coffee and my sister ordered soft poached eggs and they came out over done - it seems to be a problem with a lot of eateries in Melbourne.
My friend noticed Little Big Sugar Salt and suggested that we drop in. The staff explained that that the cafe had recently been upgraded and improved. It certainly is beguiling. They're brownies are great. Drinks are around normal price, with some innovative beverages to tempt the palate. The interior decorations are unusual and add to the dining experience, some fancy blue neon is eye catching. If you are in the area, don't pass by, drop in for a coffee..
I had big hopes for LBSS. Checking the website the night before I was a bit underwhelmed but knew what I wanted and expected it to be great. It was ok. Great potential.
The newly extended LBSS is a cute and cool oasis in a pretty gritty section of Victoria street. The cafe is full of nooks and crannies and feels a bit like a rabbit warren, but the food and coffee more than makes up for it. The menu is a little pretentious and it's a little difficult to understand exactly what you are ordering, but if you can navigate it, the flavours are great! The staff are more friendly than efficient, but get the job done and the prices are fine for the quality. The space itself is a little on the cramped side and we were there on a particularly hot day, which was quite uncomfortable in the back room. If you visit in summer, try to sit in the front section, which benefits from the breeze.
Rode here after seeing it in top 10 new brunch places. Quirky names for brunch standards. The Hamdy was a very tasty brioche bun with lashings of rindless bacon and zesty pickle and mustard. My wife wasn't so lucky - ordered toast and coffee. The latter never arrived. The toast was not of melbourne standard and they served it before informing her there was no jam left. Also did not bring a knife so she had to borrow my burger knife. Weren't terribly apologetic other than removing the coffee from the bill. My impression is reasonable place but too many other very good ones in Melbourne.
