The service very friendly and nice, the drinks (the large group tolerated) have taken a little, but at dinner the kitchen and service delivered as quickly as possible. Gulasch, cheese carving, Cordon Bleu, eggs with green sauce and large potatoes, all were very satisfied, so TOP and recommendation from me.
A delicious food with a really colorful and very tasty salad. The courtyard is shaded and quiet. We had a very friendly and fleeting service. As the cook said, made with love!
We were there the other night for dinner. Luckily we had reserved, it was pretty crowded. The controls were also quite rotating. Nevertheless, we were warmly welcomed and served quickly. All people then chose dishes from the day ticket, one with a small modification in the supplements (due to egg allergy). Then all food came in a changed form. Can happen, but shouldn't. The food was delicious, but not saturating. The portions were more like a big appetizer. Unfortunately, this is not good for 19 euros. Only different cakes were offered as dessert. Probably delicious, but the attempt was not possible for me because of egg allergy. There was no substitute. The service we mentioned at this point ignored us now. Conclusion: Food good, but very clear. Service not bad, but still expandable. Only the quality of food justifies the three stars. Unfortunately no recommendation.
Whereas the great fusion movement might satisfy the fancies of many a prim eater, once in a while you want substance and no holds barred flavour. Traditional Hessian cuisine will in fact satisfy the latter need and how so! Altes Brauhaus has undergone renovation from a tavern to a restaurant proper since last I'd been (2011 and likely for the better. First night was difficult because everything I'd hoped for was on the menu. What to choose? What to choose? When a Schweinshaxe (pig's shank slow roasted in its skin comes to your table, you look at it and think you'll never finish it. Maybe an hour or so later and with the help of a quantity of the local white wine you're looking down at an empty plate, savouring the last of that heavenly crunchy skin. And the fluffy potato dumplings? Gone too. Sauce? Wiped clean. One schnapps to finish it off and I was quite happy to waddle off into the cool of the night. Next visit I had schnitzel in local sourced wild mushroom sauce with spaetzel. Is there a better savoury to eat in Oktober? Nicht! Wait staff is young and energetic and when your faulty tourist German breaks down, they can sort you out just fine. Prices were an absolute bargain given the sizeable portions. (But that scheinshaxe ... O mein Gott.
Very conveniant atmosphere in an old but nicely and with love renovated structure. Friendly and considerate staff. The menue: not too many items (though still plenty), so you can trust, everything you order will be fresh.and made for you. I had Schnitzel with Grüne Sosse (green sauce, Goethes favourite with cooked beef), my wife had the last portion of Gulasch -daily menue. Both were very tasty. Locally brewed beer, local wines and, surprise!, also wines from our absolutely preferred winemaker from the Pfalz (Aloisiushof,St. Martin). Whenever I 'm in the area again, I will stop there and have lunch or dinner.
