Silver Fox Grill - Yorkville

We started by ordering an appetizer from the specials menu: honey crostini with ricotta cheese. It sounded absolutely delicious! However, it seemed everyone else thought so too, as we learned that the couple before us had ordered the last one. We were quite disappointed, especially since we had already waited a while for it. Thus, I was a bit late in trying to select a new appetizer. Meanwhile, my husband opted for the French onion soup. When it arrived, it looked fantastic, and after tasting it, I couldn't resist ordering my own bowl because it was that good. Though there was a bit of a wait between our food orders and their arrival at our table, it didn't feel overly long—perhaps good conversation helped the time pass quickly. The manager personally delivered our meals, and everything was delightful. My husband ordered the 10-ounce filet cooked to a perfect medium rare, and its presentation was stunning. A charming touch was the small ball of brandied salt that was set aflame upon serving. I chose the truffle tagliatelle, which was quite tasty, but I was so full from the soup that I ended up taking half of it home. What truly impressed us, however, was the service. Despite being busy, the staff made every effort to ensure we had a wonderful evening. To top it all off, the manager felt bad about our appetizer situation and the fact that it was our anniversary; she generously offered us a $25 gift certificate for our next visit, waived the cost of the French onion soup, and treated us to dessert on the house! This was completely unexpected and more than we could have asked for. This is how you create loyal customers who will come back and spread the word! Kudos to the Silver Fox!
