The menu had some unique items that were absolutely delicious. The chefs clearly take pride in their work, as the presentation and taste were top-notch. The cozy and inviting interior only added to the experience. Be sure to make a reservation ahead of time or come in early for dinner, as seating is limited. My husband and I are now loyal customers.
Fantastic!. The great thing about Solo Sushi Ya is that the fish is very fresh. Also the menu is unique and very yummy. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone especially seafood lovers.
Incredible sushi! The chef is fantastic! Try whatever the chef suggests - it's worth the price. This place has me hooked on sushi.
Came after work on a grey Friday. We were the only ones at the restaurant when we started. It's on Davis drive. Right where all the construction is. It's hard to get to, I came from the west and had to do a u turn to get to the driveway.<br/ <br/ We had been there before and had gotten the omakase then and based on how great it was decided to get it again.<br/ <br/ It's pricy at $65. Okay maybe not in Toronto but for sure in Newmarket.<br/ <br/ It's great Sushi. Nice and fresh. Loved the taste of everything, you can tell that the person preparing the food is skilled and really cares about what they are doing.<br/ <br/ We weren't rushed, in fact it was a bit slow, but I'd rather wait a bit rather than have them standing there staring at us.<br/ <br/ The only downside, they tried to up sell us something that actually came in the regular menu. Which was weird.<br/ <br/ Also, the place could use a good scrub, the floors are filthy. But the food preparation parts that we could see are immaculate.
Maybe its because I 'm in love with Japanese culture or maybe its because I 'm a sushi snob, but this is the most authentic Japanese experience you can find for the price, north of the GTA.The proprietor, Joe (or Jo), is a wonderful man and he cares deeply for his job, which doubles as his passion. He creates everything with care, precision and love, which can be seen in his rolls and his sashimi; this is arguably the best sashimi you can find anywhere and not just in quality, but in size. The only real complaint is the small selection of menu options... but that is easily made up by the quality and presentation of the food. The restaurant is small and quaint, but has all the makings of a small Japan... save for the music; chopstick holders, proper chopsticks and 'place mats, ' not to mention REAL wasabi... Just pure awesome. Stop by if you can, its easy to miss!
