The main courses were small portions and also underseasoned. As for the desserts, they were downright awful! I ordered a bananas foster bread pudding, and the best way to describe it is like Weight Watchers banana bread – dry and not sweet at all, with no sauce or caramel flavor. My husband ordered the Death By Chocolate Cake, took a few bites, and couldn’t finish it, which is very unusual for him when it comes to dessert. The kids even said the cookie and ice cream were “weird,” and they’re not picky eaters at all. This place has potential, but with overpriced and poor-quality food, we won't be returning or recommending it to others.
The cost does not match the quality of the food. While most of the dishes were satisfactory, they didn't warrant the $189 price tag for a five-course meal. The scenic ride up the mountain was enjoyable, but having experienced it before, I found it didn't justify the expense.
Overall, we had a great experience. The food was tasty, but it was definitely overpriced. The sleigh ride was enjoyable, and our host was wonderful, but the blankets provided were wet and snowy, which was a significant downside. Given the price we paid for the experience, I expected them to either bring the blankets inside for us or let us take them inside to dry out. On the plus side, there was live music, and the service was excellent. While we had a lot of fun, it feels like a one-time experience for us.
Sadly, this was a disappointing experience. We were a part of 2 and had to wait 25 minutes for our table, despite the fact this was a “controlled” 5-course meal. Also, it was particularly frustrating to see empty tables for 4 being held for those with reservations that were later than ours. The food itself was fine, but truly nothing special. For $500, and a 20-minute snow cat ride up and then down the mountain, I expected much more.
We have done this excursion several times over the years and now our kids are young adults. Sleigh ride is wonderful. Ambience at Beanos Cabin with live music is great. Food is pretty good but very small menu with no flexibility (unless you have allergies). Service is usually excellent. It was very slow this visit. The menu definitely forces on to try things they might not ordinarily try. But for the money, you want to LOVE your meal. Definitely an experience to try once.
