It was fried to a perfect crisp and the inside was juicy and moist. I wasn't a fan of the western fries. They were a little dry and I wish that they had more flavor infused in them. In my opinion, if you want a really good box of chicken and fries, you need to go to Baltimore to get it, but if you're in York, this will definitely do. I would get chicken from here again. I wanted to try the fried liver because everyone was raving about them, but they were sold out when we went, so I need to go back to try them.
The best fried chicken in York period. Bair's at the Central Market has awesome fried chicken that is second to none in York in my humble opinion. The dutch potatoes are pretty spectacular as well (their version of french fries). The Central Market Bair's is unique in that they have Scotch Eggs, natures most perfect food (in my opinion). Hard boiled eggs are dipped in egg (canibalistic, I know) and then covered with sausage and bread crumbs. This concoction is deep fried for about six minutes and then you have food perfection! Amazing to say the very least. If you want a quick meal that has it all, the Bair bowl is where to go. They have chicken, potatoes, corn, peas and gravy covered with cheese in a bowl. Sounds weird? It may be but it is also awesome. Service here is excellent and don't forget to check in on your phone's Yelp app as they frequently have a check in deal of a free beverage with a purchase.
Great chicken and waffle. Chicken tender is crispy, lightly breaded and well seasoned. Get the syrup on the side If you don't want it drenched. Perfect for a snack at central market!
While visiting relatives in a nearby small town, I found myself with some extra time and decided to make my way over to historic York. When it came time for lunch, I had an unshakeable taste for some southern styled comfort food. I thought I was going to be out of luck after passing several pizza places and Irish pubs, but Yelp never ceases to amaze me because Bair 's came up as the only place that had the most potential of satisfying my craving. Unfortunately, the only review at the time didn 't give me much to go on as it only gave an enthusiastic recommendation about the Dutch potatoes. I don 't mind going on culinary adventures, but not on days when I have a long road trip ahead just in case the adventure turns out to be more of a disaster. I 'm happy to say that Bair 's did not disappoint! I first suspected that I had made the right choice because as I approached the door, several people were coming in, and there was another one rapidly approaching behind me. One of the ladies coming out advised that I may want to wait awhile because there was a line, But then again, she added, It 's definitely worth the wait. The first thing I noticed was the amazing prices! Most of the items were no more than $10, and included a drink. After I placed my order for two thighs with a side of the highly coveted Dutch potatoes (similar to batter and fried potato wedges), I noticed several interesting options on the menu to include chicken livers and collard greens (which the owner was presently in the process of slow cooking another batch). The potatoes were delicious, and the chicken wasn 't too salty, and was tender and juicy. I particularly liked the owner 's own sauce, which she named Boom Boom sauce a perfectly blended creamy hot sauce which also tasted good on the potatoes. The owner 's passion for the restaurant was reflected in her meticulous attention to every detail including the customer service. I would absolutely go back to Bair 's anytime I 'm in the area!
My favorite fried chicken! I eat fried chicken frequently and this is still my favorite! The Mac and cheese is amazing also. Basically everything on their menu is great. Check them out.
