Clifton Tearoom - York

I missed lunch and still had a long wait until dinner when I stumbled upon this hidden gem across the street. After enjoying a delicious coronation chicken sandwich with salad and coleslaw, along with a refreshing pot of tea, I left feeling satisfied. The price was very reasonable as well. Forget the boring chain restaurants, unique and passionate places like this always come out on top.

I would give more stars if possible!!! This restaurant is a total delight. The owners are friendly, polite, and very customer-focused. They go out of their way to ensure that your experience in the tea room is extremely relaxing. The food is absolutely incredible, delicious, and piping hot. The banana cake and newly added cheesecakes are exceptional. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who will listen!! I didn't take any photos because the food was too delicious not to eat right away.

Lovely burger and chips. Very fresh and tasty. Cakes here are also amazing. A perfect place to grab lunch on the go or to eat in.

This place is hidden inside the cake/sandwich shop (Clifton Catering) at the back and only has 3 or 4 tables. We always go here when we are visiting York. A full English breakfast and a drink for just over a fiver! The staff are great and the food tasty. Well worth a visit

I often have a breakfast or get a sandwich from my local cafe. The staff are always friendly and chatty and the food is freshly made with quality local ingredients...and probably under-priced! The owner runs an excellent catering business as well. Recommended.
