If you're looking for real Italian food, you won't find it here. I have lived in mexico for almost 3 years and have become used to mexicanized cuisine of all kinds, but this place is really a tragicody. the crust on the calzone was...pale, flat and pasty, and the terrible misthash of a filling even included apple! the canneloni was dry and lacked both marinara and the cream sauce. the caesar salad was dressed in mayo in principle, without a hauch of garlic or sardelle. and it was created in tijuana, mexiko, to a good one! the only nice one on this restaurant is the painted inside terrace full of plants.
A little embarrassing about eating italian, in a city with obviously great authentic mexican / veracruz options. but sometimes are overwhelming options, and that was delicious, cheap eating. Of course, if they add a bottle of wine, it costs three times more than eating in Mexico....I am surprised by the commentary about not credit cards. that they do, and I think that the commentary on terrible, cold food had to do with the fact that they had to go to the place for parties and after work. and perhaps the credit card situation in the evening was not working, the other commentator was there. We thought that eating was wonderful. they made adjustments because they were from one of the pizza ingredients. the cannelloni was handmade and tasty and served hot, by the way. a clear winner.
This place is a gem. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. The prices were very low for the good size potions. A bottle of wine was very reasonable too. A must when visiting Xalapa!
This restaurant seems to be wildly popular, but I have been several times and am never overly-impressed with the food nor the service. The waiters are nice enough, and the food is good enough - though not always consistently good, but it's certainly not worth the nearly hour-wait on busy nights to get a table. For the price and ambience, Italiani's (a popular chain here in Mexico with similar prices).
