Both we excellent, but the lamb dish was truly delicious. Can't wait to go back! Thanks for a great night.
Tired of mediocre Indian restaurants closer to home, we asked an Indian friend for her favorite place. Boy, do I wish we 'd asked sooner. My wife and I had some of the best Indian food in some time at Benares. We ordered a selection of appetizers and entrees, knowing we 'd take much of it home, to get a feel for the menu. Everything was freshly prepared and flavorful. In addition to chicken, lamb and seafood choices, there are many vegan and vegetarian items too. The dining room is simply decorated but inviting, the staff pleasant and the wait staff knowledgable. I 'd describe the noise level as lively a group of twelve or so was seated nearby but the two of us were able to talk without raising our voices. BYOB. From eastern Bergen County you will probably take either Rt. 4 or Rt. 17, so allow for traffic. Even then, we 'll be back, probably with friends.
The food is consistently very good, as is the service.
We went for Mother’s Day. Not only was the food amazing, as always, but they made it so special. Little pink drinks with rose petals on the plate and a rose for each mother. So sweet! They make you feel so welcome and appreciated. It’s my favorite restaurant!
Good food, large menu with lots of choices. Fair prices. Was at this restaurant at its previous name Saffron. Don’t know if new owners. Worth visiting!
