My issue is with the 15% service charge stuck on the bill that I did not spot until I got home. I went to the bar to ask for the bill as they didn't bring it when we asked the waiting staff. I was handed it and the young male then immediately asked me if it was ok and handed me the card machine to pay. That felt very pressured and I did not get to study the bill properly. Only when I got home did I see the ridiculous 15% service charge that had been added to our meal, adding nearly £17 to the bill. Why have started charging that much as a service charge percentage. To us that's way too much. I would rather it was scrapped and the people eating at your premises can make the choice on what tip to leave. None of us will be back due to this charge. Others beware and check your bill carefully!!
Our table wasn’t ready for us, despite it being quiet. We were a small group of friends and we all felt that our experience wasn’t what is has usually been like in the past at this restaurant. The service was very slow and the food was ok, whereas previously it’s been very good. We waited a long time for the dessert menu before going to ask for this ourselves. We waited a long time for the bill so ended up going to the bar. The banoffee pie is not a pie. It’s a biscuit base with one small slice of banana.
We rang on the off chance if they had a table, well I am glad we did! This was nicest meal I have ever had! So much flavour, not greasy, just lovely! The only downside is that I couldn’t eat it all!! The staff worked very well together, they were so observant, very polite and friendly all of them!! If we ever drive through we will definitely pop in! Best meal, best staff, best venue!
Been here loads of times and we always enjoy our meal. Went on Tuesday 6th February. The wait for our meal was 40 minutes. Why don’t you advise people of the long wait when you order your food? When it finally got yo us and on this particular day we didn’t have time to spare. The seafood platter was disgusting the whitebait was burnt, the bread stale, 3 pieces only one butter. There was a replacement for the usual salad and it was picked cucumber which was awful. When we asked the waiter about the difference he was quite abrupt and said he couldn’t deal with us, even though he hadn’t listened to what we had to say, he just walked away and left us!! Not a way to handle customers. You need to appreciate when a customer isn’t satisfied with their food and address it accordingly. Shang be coming again. Loads more places to eat that are better
Table not ready at alloted time and were told that there was no beef left. Asked if the special was cheaper but replied that they were not selling the special. Why leave the special menu on the tabe in that case. Order for drinks was taken at same time as food order then took a while to arrive. Food was very nice but the service wasn't as good as other restaurants/pubs. 10% discretionary service charge wasn't spotted on the front of the menu and is a bit rich. Why can't we as customers decide what to give without the hassle of asking for the charge to be removed.
