Returned to El Basha after a long absence because of the pandemic, and was amazed how the food was even better than I remembered. Excellent baba ganoush and a memorable labneh. Several great options for vegans and vegetarians. Perfect sized portions not too much or too little. Wish I could eat here everyday!
Staff did not seem able to handle the holiday (Valentines Day) crowd even though everyone who came in had already made a reservation. The staff were very apologetic, but that only enhanced the feeling of disappointment over the wait and the food. Too bad. It’s a highly recommended restaurant and I’m sure it’s lovely on a slower night. Don’t bother with the grape leaves dish, though.
Really went down hill food was all wet and sluggish, meat was all hard.
We found El Basha from Phantom Gourmet and are very happy we did! We wanted a restaurant with vegetarian options in close proximity to the colleges. From the minute we walked in we loved El Basha. We were cordially greeted and quickly seated at a quiet table tucked away from the wintry cold air of the entry. Service impeccable and a very varied menu. Enjoyed Guinness on tap! Everything was delicious from the grape leaves appetizer, pumpkin kibbie, to the combination kebab plate and finishing with the best baklava ever! Everything was flavorful without being too spicy. We highly recommend El Basha and look forward to returning.
