Matsos Family - Wooster

My children and I attempted to dine there on Saturday, June 29, 2024, but unfortunately, it was closed. We found ourselves wondering why. My kids were excited to share stories about our recent trip to Greece, as Spiro had given us some great recommendations. Today, I learned that Spiro (the owner) had passed away on that very day. It seems somewhat poignant that we were thinking about him. Rest in peace, Spiro.

Google indicates that the restaurant is open after 3 PM from Tuesday to Saturday, but it is actually only open from Thursday to Saturday. I've tried to visit four times while in town, and it's been quite frustrating.

I've been visiting this restaurant for years, and the owner is always friendly and kind. He prepares incredible food with generous portions that are both large and delicious. We love stopping by whenever we have the chance, especially after trading books just a block away. It’s become a regular stop for us during our half-day or longer trips to Wooster, Ohio. We will definitely keep coming back, and my youngest sister and brother-in-law, who don't live in my city, also make it a point to visit.

Love the food, well worth the long wait due to lack of help.

We’re so happy we finally tried Matsos! The food was delicious and the portions are very generous. We ordered a pita pizza to split as an appetizer plus our meals came with salads and garlic bread we were stuffed before our meals even came out! Mr. Matsos is such a pleasure to talk with! He’s so welcoming and kind. It’s very impressive how well he runs his business and makes it such a personal experience. We can’t wait to go back and try more!
