Przekaż informację zwrotnąTook my friend to Fuku for dinner at 8.30pm on a Thursday night. When we entered the shop, two ladies staff at the front counter looked at us very unwelcomely till a point my friend had to ask whether they still open. We are fine if they stop serving at this time since there are other similar Asian restaurants around. But apparently it still open. Then the staff rudely slammed the dishes and cutlery with the menu on our table and walked away with her attitude and her rolled-eyes on her face. We were asked what we wanted to order. Me and my friend were not ready so we politely asked for 5 more minutes. The staff rolled her eyes at us and as long as she walked away she started speaking Chinese to another staff at the counter, laughing and mocking us, thinking we didn't understand. But unfortunately for them, my friend is fully Chinese, and at native proficiency level, just born and raise in another country so she doesn't look like one and we spoke different language the whole time we were there. The staff were mocking us for "asking for 5 more minutes to order", "even raise the hand indicating number 5". Living till this time is Aus, I don't think any of the things we asked were too demanding or inappropriate. We were informed they ran out of beef and asked if my friend want something else. My friend asked if they can changed it into pork instead. The staff smirked and laughed at us again right at the table. Then stood there and exchanged few more laugh with her colleague who walked out from the kitchen. It was very rude and we felt deeply that we were being mocked by them (sorry my friend understood the whole convo). Our dish of noodles were served with very tiny few pieces of meat that it's difficult to pick the meat up, out of the noodles. The taste and everything were fine but the only thing we saw on our dish were noodles, plain noodles, no veggies and very minimal meat. At some point we asked each other if they were rude because it were late for the staff or the restaurant to still serve. But after that past 9pm, few different groups of customers came in, around 10 or more people so clearly the "open till late" info they have at their front door do apply for dine in past 8pm.Extremely offended and disappointed. Will never go back again or recommend anyone to ever dine there. We assure our friends, families and fans of my blog won't ever dine at a restaurant with such disrespectful attitude toward the customers.
Ok ok, we go to these places to eat good food and get some service (be looked after, not do the washing up, etc, etc) right? Agreed. The food was good, I have no complaints there. The place advertises itself as "Asian" but is named "Fuku" - which gives the impression it is Japanese. Gyoza, bonito balls (although a bit soggy) are Japanese indeed, but after that the menu is peculiarly Chinese - special fried rice with chicken, water spinach with garlic and kung pao chicken - but all were excellent nonetheless. Not too greasy, not too salty, just right...in fact only complaint there was we over-ordered! Our bad.The service was...ok. Two busy young Chinese girls were serving a 60-70% full joint on a Thu night, doing their best, but we got no smiles and a fairly curt, un-caring service, e.g. had to ask for a bottle opener for our BYO beers, got no offer of tap water or glasses until we asked...that sort of style (which we are fairly used to in Mel/Syd cheap Chinese food joints). A bit later on a (non-Chinese) lady joined the staff and was a bit more attentive and polite.However!...when we asked where the toilet was things started to go downhill. We finished up our meal and paid. We were directed around the side of the restaurant and up a dark alley to the toilet. We eventually found an open door to the restaurant kitchen and...just as we got there...the toilet door slammed shut. We wait a good 10 mins outside in the dark (whilst looking at the Chinese shefs using their meat cleavers in the kitchen - I must add RIGHT next door to the toilet room with the single door open) and I started to get a bit desperate. Not being from Wollongong I didnt want to make a run for it somewhere else. So my partner knocked the door...at which point she was rudely shouted at (in Chinese) by a girl in the loo!A kitchen member shortly came out after that and said something in Chinese through the door, he was shouted at again in the same manner, then apprx 5 mins afterwards one of the young Chinese waitresses came out of the loo, gave us a filthy look and shouted into the kitchen as she walked back through! We laughed out loud at this stage...but things then made us realise this was not a place we will come back to...I relieved myself, finally after the ever-so-polite staff member had done her business (fair enough we all need to go - but where I'm from we usually say "wait please" if someone knocks the door...in English if we are in Australia or any English speaking country!)...but to my horror there was NO SOAP! So this waitress had walked straight back through the kitchen area after spending 10-15 mins on the bog doing whatever and walked back through the kitchen without washing her hands! And even the customers can't wash their hands! God knows what state of hygiene the kitchen is in!!!So there you have it. Food was great. But it is a hygiene time bomb waiting to happen. OK in China I am sure, but shouldn't be allowed in Australia in this day and age and this location with these reviews on Tripadvisor. Get a hygiene inspector out there soon please!I note we are not the first review to mention poor state of the loo too.
Food is very tasty, and reasonably priced. It is only a small restaurant but in a good location. Waitress was very polite and friendly and told us she is studying International Studies at the local University . She was not Asian but was able to help with our meal selection. We will dine there again, next time we are in Wollongong.
Fuku on Crown Street Wollongong always comes through with delicious flavoursome foodFirst choice for lunch destination with my daughter Lemon chicken is amazing, although sometimes a little slow ~ had to leave before it arrived one time, sadly, but now better plan our lunch menu depending on time available Shame the Asian waitress can't seem able to smile...
We eat here all the time. Food is cheap but good, alcohol license and not too pricey, service friendly, a little busy at times, but that happens.Need to start putting ice in the water and soft drinks and yes fix the toilets. The toilet is a bit rudimentary, no paper towel, t-paper just sitting there, but do you visit for the crapper? They have always had soap, and yes they're Chinese people. Cheap as chips asian food, if you want something fancy then go somewhere else. We have found this one of a few good restaurants in town, never felt sick after eating here , no nasty surprises, what more do you want? You can fill up for $11 here and you'll find many asian uni students in the place.
