The rooms are really comfortable, featuring a charming historical style that feels just right—neither too elaborate nor too plain. They pay attention to the essentials, with cozy beds and pillows, excellent water pressure in the shower, and quiet, efficient heating. The furnishings are beautifully simple. Plus, there are lovely little amenities and a serene atmosphere. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here as your go-to pit stop!
This place is spotless and absolutely delightful. It's uncommon to find a historic venue that is so well-maintained and beautifully decorated! The Halloween decorations were impressive and added to the charm. Unfortunately, we couldn't stay for breakfast, but I have no doubt it’s delicious! I would definitely give it a 10/10 and plan to return soon!
We went for lunch and explored the grounds, and it was truly incredible. Jeremy, Nancy, and their staff gave us a warm welcome. We had a fantastic experience! The food and service were top-notch, and the lodge and grounds were impeccably maintained. The inn itself is captivating, and the historical rooms are well-preserved. It feels like stepping back in time, making it a real gem. It's a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, and I can't wait to come back for an overnight stay. Thank you for making my birthday special—I look forward to visiting many more times! Golden, with its vibrant atmosphere, is just down the street, making it a great place to unwind and soak up the history.
If you are looking for a beautiful historical place to visit this would be the place. It also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was excellent and the staff is very friendly and clean. It also has a mini museum inside. Since October, the museum and the common rooms have been decorated for Halloween and look pretty cool. We didn't go overnight just for breakfast, so we can't give reviews about the stay.
Stayed here end of April 2022 on our Anniversary trip. It was definitely an historic inn with a lot of personality and charm. My grandmother had a house in South Carolina that was built in the late 1890s, so this place reminded me a lot of her house. They have some rooms set up for viewing old photos and paraphernalia from the late 1880s and a typical Jack London room decorated as it would be at the turn of the century. There is also a section dedicated to the local ghost town of Golden which existed during the mining years starting in 1881. It is worthwhile to take a walk around the hotel and read the articles on the wall to get an appreciation of the history of the Inn. The room we had #8 was pleasant and the bed was comfortable. The water handles in the bathroom sink were a little bit hard to turn off, but other than that, no complaints. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was great! The pulled pork and beef brisket were both very tasty, as well as the chocolate mint brownie. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. The old cash register was very cool and worth a picture. It had buttons for pint, 1/2 pint, and quart, as well as buttons for different dollars and cents amounts. There are not many rooms available for stay, so if you are on the fence, book now as it may not be available when you check back.
