Horsell Fish And Chips - Woking

As of January 2024, it appears there are new owners at this restaurant. The pricing and portion sizes have greatly improved. The food was excellent.

We had a great experience tonight at the restaurant. It was our first time trying the fish since the new owners took over. I ordered the lightly battered cod and it was cooked perfectly. I always request soft chips and they were exactly how I like them. Overall, it made for a delicious meal.

We went to the fish and chip shop and were disappointed by the unfriendly staff. We ordered a large fish and chips and it was given to us in an open box, thankfully it wasn't raining. When we asked for a bag, we were told it would cost 25p, which we found ridiculous. We won't be returning as we preferred the previous owners. The service was disgusting and the fish was greasy and flat, almost as if it had been flattened with a mallet.

A disastrous take away which spoiled our friends' evening with them. We have supported this fish bar for years but .... We ordered by phone at 18:05 on a Friday and accepted collection in 15 20 minutes say 18:25. Our take away was finally served at 19:00. Yes it was busy. However we watched customers come in and take away at 18:45, having ordered online at 18:20. Customers who called in at 18:30 were served by 18:50. Nobody in the fish bar was very happy. We won't be going back. Sorry.

This chip shop used to be one of top 3 chip shops within the 5 mile radius. The business has new owners and the chips are now dry and chewy. May be they are not Cooke at the right temperature or have changed the oil. Very rarely have I tasted chips this poor. I hope they improve on this.
