The Katharine Brasserie - Winston-Salem

Kellner was great, but I had to remind him of what I had asked before, but about all service was much better than the last visit where the staff had a huge and unacceptable argument that everyone could hear in the restaurant

We arrived at time of reservation and were seated upon arrival. All of the staff that we interacted with were very nice, easygoing, and professional. Our waitress was very helpful with questions we asked, as well as offering suggestions for menu items. We enjoyed a great meal that was served in a timely manner. The price point was right on target with what we received in food quality, ambience, and service. Overall, we rate our experience with five stars.

Made the reservation a week in advance for our anniversary and got table close to the bathroom and in the walkway out of the kitchen ...worse table in the house. Mark the sommelier was great, server was great, support server didn't fill water glasses while he was filling others around us, Fried Brussels were unique and tasty as was the bacon flat bread appetizer. Steaks were good but lacked that fine steakhouse crisp light char. Was very loud NOT energetic as OpenTable wants to call it. Would return another time and hope for a better table.

Really nice dinner last night. The seating for two is a little weird with the booth seating though. We’ve been to the Katherine a couple times and this has happened a couple times The tables for two are tables connected to a long booth. And there could be several available tables even in the same section, and the host will seat you right next to another couple. The tables are pretty close… it’s a let down because the mood goes from cozy and intimate dinner for two… to sitting on top of another couple and hearing each others conversations. I know it’s not just me because I’ve heard the other people at the tables beside us will say, “wow they’re close” and there’s an awkward vibe.. this has happened almost every time I’ve been there… fortunately we’ve requested to move, and the waiter or host happily moves us. Just strange that’s the first choice for seating. On a positive note, we never wait around with a reservation. We are seated immediately and do not wait long for service. And the service is great and the waiters know the menu inside and out and make great recommendations. I highly recommend the chocolate dessert with the marshmallow top. It’s fabulous.

It was a lovely night out with good friends. Our food was delicious and service was excellent.
