The Yellow Dog Tavern - Winnipeg

Tried out this place before heading over to see Stomp at the Burt. Great atmosphere and the staff were awesome!! We were a group of four and our table had nachos, perogies, club house and quesadillas. The house dressing on the side salad was fantastic. Everything was good, but our only issue was with the nachos. They could have used a bit more toppings as they were a bit dry as you got past the top layer. and the guacamole was not what we expected especially when you have to pay extra for it. it didn't seem home made. Otherwise we really enjoyed out dinner and will definitely be returning.

This pub/resto offers a comfortable balance between a lunch joint and neighbourhood pub. Their menu offers dishes full of flavour with wraps, sandwiches, soups, salads and more. Today, I introduced another friend to YDT. She said she had passed it by many times, but never thought to stop in. She was kicking herself bite after bite in between her exclamations of "mmmmmmmmmm". I asked her what other places she has been passing by that we can try next.

I was really looking forward to stopping by your place during our St. Patrick's Day Pub Crawl. The beer satisfied... why not? It's beer! I enjoyed the style and layout of this place as a tavern/pub, although it was tight. I appreciated the old rustic wood floors. My wife ordered the Cheddar Ale Soup and it came out very runny and less than lukewarm. We were planning on getting something else to eat, but the soup really turned us off. I will say this... the food that past us as it was served to tables around us looked really good. My first experience here wasn't a great one, so, it looks like i will have to return sometime in the near future and hope for a better experience. I really wanted to have the experience that so many others have had before me. Maybe next time. I'll be back. (March 17th 2017)

Loved our lunch here! We tried the Yellow Dog Platter and the Pirogies. Both were awesome! The server/bartender was very friendly and helpful in making suggestions for us while visiting the city. There were several other things on the menu that we would have liked to try.

Our son was performing nearby on Friday and Saturday night so we came here both evenings for dinner after dropping him off for rehearsal. We are so glad we did.The atmosphere is a little dark but very friendly with a real home-style feel. The food is really good. My wife, who said she wouldn't find anything to her liking in a place like this, had macaroni and cheese both nights and loved it! She also had the Caesar salad and we both agreed it was better than any place we can recall. It had a tartness but not lip-puckering. The garlic toast was not greasy yet had an intense but not overpowering flavour. I had a club sandwich the first night and nachos the second--both dishes were fabulous. The selection of beer on tap is really good--lots of local brews but also Guinness, of course! I had Original 16 and enjoyed every drop. Our only disappointment was there's no desserts.Service was excellent! Loved our server--had the same young woman both nights.
