J&H Restaurant - Winnipeg

From the moment you walk in to this place, you are treated like you are part of the family and this makes your experience so much nicer. Whenever I have people visiting me, I always take them to this place and everyone loves it. The breakfasts are so yummy and you get so much for your money. I can't say enough about this restaurant. You have to just try it for yourself.

Consistently the best breakfast in Winnipeg. Welcoming family environment. John and Helen and their family run this jewel that has been in the same spot for years. Portions are generous and the quality is homemade, no nonsense, consistently delicious. Once you've been to j&h once, you're family. The service is very attentive and friendly and the bottomless cup of coffee is always a nice touch. If I could, I'd set up a cot in the back and call Helen mom.

This is a very friendly place! It's a family business, and everything on the menu is home made and fresh. They serve both Greek food and standard fare such as burgers and breakfast. I had the souvlaki on a pita special, with a Greek salad and french fries. I usually don't order souvalki because there never is enough meat, but this had a huge hunk of ground meat on a skewer - sort of an oval hamburger. There was a lot of meat, and the sauce and the pita were also good. I was surprised that fries were served instead of rice, but what fries! They were big, homemade, crispy and delicious! The decor is very simple, almost Spartan (Hey, it's a Greek restaurant, right? They hold the title on Spartan!) but no one goes there for the decor. They go here for the food and the service. They've been in operation for 40 years now, and if they keep it up, they'll be around for 40 more!

Every time I visit Winnipeg I come here for breakfast just to get Johnny's special with the big wall of bacon on my plate. The bacon is cut thick & specially smoked for their place. I'm a fairly big eater but there's always a couple or so potatoes still left on my plate when I'm done and I usually skip my lunch those days. Very friendly & down to earth atmosphere and they throw lots of coffee at you.

E suis allé récemment dans un restaurant français appelé Le Petit Bistro et j'ai été très impressionné par l'expérience culinaire. La décoration était charmante avec des tables de bistro classiques et des lumières tamisées. J'ai commandé le steak frites et c'était délicieux. La viande était parfaitement cuite et les frites étaient croustillantes à l'extérieur et moelleuses à l'intérieur. Le service était également excellent; le serveur était poli et attentif. Dans l'ensemble, j'ai passé une excellente soirée et je recommande vivement ce restaurant à quiconque cherche une cuisine française authentique et de qualité.
