Izumi Sushi - Winnipeg

I enjoy this restaurant. The sushi is always fresh and tasty. The staff have always been very friendly every time I visit.

Not sure why the rating isn't higher? We eat here or have take-out for here at least twice a month and have been ordering from here since it opened. Very, very, fresh fish, rolls are nice (don't fall apart like other places), and average price for sushi. I would recommend it. It doesn't have the fanciest decor, but it makes no difference to me and doesn't impact on my dining experience.

They have a very good variety of menu choices and nice presentation with the sushi. I have always found the ingredients to be fresh.

We went here for lunch. My friend ordered a vegetarian bento ($12 that include: Edamame, salad, fried dumpling, sushi, rice, and miso soup). It looked good and was a great value. I ordered some sushi: spider roll ($8.25 for 5 pcs), crunchy roll ($8 for 5pcs), and dynamite roll ($6.5 for 5pcs). The taste was ok, but I think the price was a bit in the higher end (especially some of the pieces were thinner).

My Wife and I have been going here since they opened, I'm not even sure how many years it has been now. We have introduced our kids to sushi here, only to have them love it as much, if not more, than we do. My wife and I were on a date today and we headed straight to our favorite spot, and today for whatever reason( maybe because there were no kids and we could actually talk to each other) we talked about how long we have been coming here and how we have Never had anything we didn't like. We talked about the service and how great it is ,how the waitress' (all of them) remember what we like to eat and drink, the chef remembers how one of us likes a roll extra spicy, how when we go in without the kids they ask where the kids are......wow, what can you say. I had tears in my eyes. I don't know about anyone else but I can't say that about any other restaurant I have ever been to.....EVER!!! The food speaks for itself. We are not sushi experts, we just know what we like. California rolls, Bakudan, Spider etc. standards I guess you'd say . I love the corn croquetts the tempura shrimp ,mmmmmmm. We love sushi and have had it from many, many other places , in town and around the world and I can honestly say We Love Izumi Sushi BY FAR!!!! For the food the service and the care that goes into making every bite. Put all that together and it's a combination that is hard to beat. It is a small place, the atmosphere is simple, always clean, and is truly a hidden gem in Winnipeg.
