Lynda's Country Kitchen - Winnfield

We traveled to Winnfield from Florida for Onkel Earl's Hog Dog Trials and wanted to try authentic Louisiana cuisine. After checking out the menu, we decided to give Linda's a try after spending the day at the fairgrounds. When we arrived, there was only one other group there, which was not surprising for a small city. We were promptly greeted and seated, but it was clear that the restaurant was not busy. After waiting for our drinks, we ordered our meals - chicken waffles, chicken fried steak, fried boudin po' boy, and shrimp po' boy. The menu advertised "4 jumbo shrimp" for the po' boy, but the shrimp were normal size. The food took a long time to arrive, but we didn't mind as we knew it was being freshly prepared. Unfortunately, the chicken waffles were disappointing and overcooked, the fried boudin was overdone, and only the chicken fried steak was satisfactory. When it came time to pay, the bill was much higher than expected at $68. When we questioned the charges, the workers only adjusted the chicken portion. Despite our initial hopes for the restaurant, we left feeling disappointed and unlikely to return.

I have known this family for years. The restaurant was great back then and is still great today.

The baked chicken was not actually baked, but rather smothered in a nasty sauce. The rice and gravy lacked flavor. The store-bought rolls were the only enjoyable part of the meal. Overall, it was a waste of money.

Victoria and Chelsea are awesome, the food was great, service was exceptional, price was fair. All around win.

This was the first time in a while since we ordered from here due to living out of town.We ordered 3 fish plates and the large hamburger basket. Food was fresh and delicious. Fish had a very good taste and the hamburger was excellent.
