Big W's Roadside Bbq - Wingdale

We left the city to Sherman CT for the weekend filled with a car filled with grocery stores, plan to cook dinner when we arrived. But when we approached the state, we started eating a place like we were hungry and didn't want to wait. The first place had waited an hour. We continued when the driver remembered the amazing BBQ they had recently, not too far from where we were.

After I left the area and tried out other grills, I realize what a gem Big Ws really is. The dry rub on everything is wonderful so that sauce unnecessary. Big W's sauce is thin, not my pleasure, but honestly it's not missed. The depth of the taste of its dry rubbing fills the chicken, ribs and brisket. The pulled pig is also a favorite. The sweet corn pudding is dense, slightly sweet and a nice finish to eat. The baked cabbage is also a wonderful side dish. Also old standards such as beans and Cole Slav are reliable good. Warren is a Hoot and will remind you at the second visit. He will give you a dissertation about the difference between the different types of ribs, barbecue styles, sauces to region and just about everything you can think to ask barbecue ash. Love Warren and love Big Ws. It is not fantastic, but the enormous portions more than make for the lack of hi-end decoration. Finally, it is worth a grill connection and the trip. Very recommended.

Although I live about 10 minutes from Big W's, I discovered this restaurant in Hudson valley magazine. I cannot help but say they have the best brisket i have ever had. Its one of those melt in your mouth foods that keeps you coming back for more. If you have not gone I urge you to go. The staff including Big W (aka Warren) and his wife are very friendly. The inside of the place is nothing special but the food makes up for all that it lacks. The portion sizes are extremely generous. This is also a great family restaurant as well.
