Restaurant has been around since 1929, and the interior takes you back to the time. Nice personal service, and mouth wetting sandwiches. I've had Katz's in NYC many times and this competes. Check it out, great place for Windsor
Delicious sandwiches and poutines. The meat this lean but flavourful. If you are ordering takeout, be sure to ask for mustard because it's not on the sandwiches. I've ordered from there twice and you need to remind them about mustard. The poutine tastes like I'm back in downtown Montreal fresh curds, perfectly cooked fries and not too salty gravy. Get a medium poutine as they reduced their serving sizes from late 2018. Well worth the visit.
This restaurant has been beautifully renovated and restored to its former glory! Since the new owner took over in 2017, I have fallen in love with this place all over again. I have been coming here since I was a child, and the recent food offerings take me back to the classic diner I adored in my youth. The decor remains unchanged, with a traditional diner lunch counter and a deli fridge filled with tempting desserts. The seating consists of cozy booths and a few tables. This establishment has been around since the 1920s and has retained its nostalgic charm from days gone by. The staff is attentive and friendly, working tirelessly during busy times to serve up delicious smoked meat sandwiches and other favorites. The owner personally recommended that I try the Montreal smoked meat or pastrami, and now I can't get enough of them. My current favorite dish on the menu is the deli poutine, which is absolutely fantastic. The assortment of sandwich sizes offered is a definite plus, ranging from 3 to 32 ounces of smoked meats. I have always loved this restaurant, and now I love it even more. It truly embodies everything a smoked meat deli should be, and I look forward to treating myself here whenever possible.
Under new ownership, this restaurant has had a fantastic improvement. The negative reviews are outdated, as the new owners have only been in charge for less than a year. I was thrilled to find Montreal Smoked Meat on the menu, as it's a rarity where I live. The meat was hand-cut, just like at Schwartz's, and incredibly moist and tender. The bread was fresh and paired perfectly with a local beer. I regret not ordering extra pickles, but if I lived in Windsor, I would eat here every day. Despite initially wanting to order another sandwich, I was too full after finishing my jumbo-sized meal. The food was delicious and more affordable than similar options in Toronto or Montreal.
The smoked meat at this restaurant is absolutely delicious, and their poutine is fantastic, especially when topped with smoked meat. The owner and staff are friendly and welcoming. I have dined here about five times now and have enjoyed my meal every single time.
