Giovanni's Pizza - Windsor

After passing by this restaurant for years without stopping, I finally decided to have lunch here today. I sat on the bar side and ordered a chicken parm grinder. The friendly bartender, Kathy, asked me what kind of cheese I wanted - provolone, American, or mutz. I chose mutz and she even offered to split the grinder so I could take half home. It turned out to be a good idea as the grinder was huge, approximately 18 inches long. The grinder itself was decent, not particularly outstanding. It lacked a bit of chicken compared to other places I've tried it. The chicken was tasty, but the bread somewhat overshadowed it. There were also a lot of onions, which I wasn't expecting. Overall, it was a safe choice. The service was excellent and it's a nice spot to grab a drink. However, it's not the kind of place you would take your significant other.

I do not recommend ordering delivery from this restaurant. They got my order wrong both times and the food arrived cold. The delivery fee is expensive for just a slice of food. I did not receive my order and was still charged for it.

I've been going to this place for years. Enjoy sitting outside and we can even bring our dog. Was there a few days ago and ordered a Genoa and ham sandwich which I've had there many times. It came and I was shocked of how small it was. I looked inside and there was two paperthin slices of ham and two paperthin slices of Genoa. On top of that they charge me an extra $2.50 for ordering two kinds of meat. I commented to the waitress on the small portion size and she said she was sorry but did not offer any compensation. Will not be going back.

Located in a central town plaza, nondescript storefronts offering easy accessibility, the large parking lot is usually quiet unless there is a summer concert on the green nearby. We ordered take out and the pepperoni veggie pizza did not disappoint. The crust is on the thicker scale and tppings were substantial. The large single order of eggplant parm was overbreaded, the eggplant was rubbery and sliced thinly although what truly set this dish on the back shelf was its lack of sauce. It displayed dryly. And came to us over linguini when we specifically ordered angel hair. While my friends pizza was good, there are other wonderful eateries close by (Tunxis Grill, TrainWreck, Windsor Steak and Seafood) who do Italian dishes with much more flavor and freshness.

Worst experience ever. Customer service was terrible. I wish I could give it more stars as I can understand how a small business may be short staffed or whatever the case may be. They definitely could improve in the way the treat new customers because it seemed like they were ok with the ones at the bar area. I do think it seems a bit too much to have the bartender also be the cashier on the restaurant section.
