Every dish was overloaded with sugar, including the dumplings, which had a gummy dough and practically no garlic sauce—just a lot of sweetness. The hot and sour soup was also overly sweet; I’ve never encountered a version with sugar before. The portion sizes were small, and the mixed vegetables consisted mainly of Chinese cabbage with just a few pieces of carrot. For $32, this was such a letdown—what a waste!
As for the food, I give it a solid 5 out of 5; it was excellent! However, the service was a bit lacking, earning only a 2. The atmosphere also received a score of 2, as it wasn't particularly inviting. Overall, I'd recommend it for the food if you're looking for a satisfying meal.
The restaurant is a nice, clean, and well-organized establishment. The service was polite, provided by a young man. However, the food was quite mediocre. The wonton soup had little flavor and tasted mostly like water. The lo mein was very dry, although it did have a decent taste. The shrimp and broccoli were acceptable, with well-cooked shrimp, but the brown sauce was overly heavy with ground pepper, which was not a good match. Unfortunately, since it's local, I would prefer to travel to Deposit NY for their Chinese food or to Binghamton NY (the one connected to the Weis on Robinson Street) rather than eat here again.
I haven't even tried the food yet, but I was disappointed with my experience so far. The woman at the front counter was very curt on the phone and even ruder in person. There were no other customers, yet I felt like I was bothering them. This is a really unwelcoming way to treat customers. I can only hope the food is better than the service.
I placed an order online and was told it would take 40 minutes, but I ended up waiting for an hour. The food was decent.
