Luckily we came across the Anvil on our way back to the car. The building itself is beautiful and very quaint. We ordered a Ploughman’s and a French onion soup. The soup was nicely hot and came with the requested gluten free bread as advertised. I have yet to find gf bread nicer than this and thoroughly enjoyed it with lashings of butter. The ploughman’s was plentiful with fresh salad garnish and lots of cheddar, stilton and gammon ham. The service was great and the food being brought out looked fresh and a good portion size. One to try if you’re in the area. There’s a nice little outdoor seating area for warmer days. We look forward to coming again.
Delicious breakfast this morning at the Anvil Cafe. Had fried eggs, bacon on muffins. Lovely place and such friendly staff.
This is an extremely pleasant venue where excellent food is served by attentive staff and which is always under the supervision of the owner. My wife and I used to live nearby and visited this eatery frequently: now living overseas we can only visit when we occasionally visit the UK
Called in for Sunday breakfast , young staff were friendly and attentive but the coffee was awful cheap instant popped in to a cafetiere to make an impression. Breakfast was slow to arrive and with a childlike portion and cheap spread on the toast and inedible beans microwaved ? it was hardly worth the wait only redeeming feature was pleasant staff but will not return
Love the Anvil tearooms. A lovely atmosphere and some great cake! Dog friendly too and the staff were very helpful. Will definitely go back
