Im not one to be speechless but today i was, our both lunches were pre carved meats no taste, the vegetables were over cooked pale in colour, except for the cauliflower cheese umm was raw with a tiny bit of cheese melted on top no cheese sauce!! Service not good either young girls not much experience. So just don't waste your time and precious money going here to be disappointed.
I stayed here a month or so ago with work for a couple of nights and really enjoyed my stay. I was working long hours on a site nearby so I didn't end up eating any meals here which was a shame, but the menu looked fantastic. I ended up just getting takeaways as I wanted something quick that I could take to my room. The room itself was really cosy and clean and ideal for me. I saw some comments about the sloping floor but I had no issues at all with this. The only downside was the noise from the pub below, more so on the Friday night which seemed to go on into the early hours, but on the second night I was far too tired to hear anything. You've got to expect this to an extent when staying in a pub though. The toilet seat could do with being looked at too as it would move all over the place when sat on it. What I loved about this place was there was plenty of parking and it was never an issue, even in my VW crafter. It was also great having access to the rooms through the beer garden so I didn't have to trapse through the pub as I came and went. I'd happily stay here again in the future.
Yet another visit on Thursday 28th July, and I'm convinced the amount of food on the plate is increasing. Great value for money and the hand-cut chips are still the best I've had.
Very pleased to find a nice friendly pub with a good room with lots of light and well decorated.Bathroom spotless and nice shower cubicle. Nothing fancy but perfect for our stay. The Landlord and all his staff were super friendly ad couldn't do enough.Sadly when we arrived at the beginning of the week their kitchen wasn't open for dinner but they organised a take away for us and that was great.
We have just returned from a trip to Wiltshire over the weekend. We stayed at the Hollies Inn. When we arrived we were nicely welcomed and told about the breakfast times but we did feel that it would have been good if we had been provided with a short information sheet of the facilities, i.e. the internet password and price of breakfasts etc because there was too much to remember otherwise. It was good having on-sight parking. However, parking was a bit difficult during the day and early evening when locals were visiting the Inn. It wasn't always easy to find a space. About a week before we went we had two invoices, one with £140 on it and one with £160. When we went to pay, we were charged the higher amount. We felt that we should have been charged the lesser amount or at least met in the middle at £150. The price also didn't include breakfast so if you were staying a week or so paying for breakfast would soon push up the price even further. The room was however very comfortable, with a kettle, iron, microwave and mini fridge, so overall an average score given.
